Will I need a mortgage broker?
Due to the property prices it is likely that most buyers will require a mortgage to finance their new home. While it is possible to approach a lender yourself for a mortgage, we would recommend using an experienced adviser to make sure your arrangement is as good as it can be.
What types of broker are there?
There are two types of broker that can help you with your mortgage:
- Whole of market mortgage brokers will have access to deals from across the market, meaning they are more likely to find a deal that meets your needs.
- Mortgage advisers who work for a particular lender can only offer you products from that one lender.
What does “whole of market” mean?
The mortgage market is made up of different types of lenders, including banks, building societies and specialist lenders. There are also a number of different types of mortgage product available, from fixed rate to variable rate deals.
An independent whole of market mortgage broker will have access to deals from across the market, meaning they are more likely to find a highly competitive mortgage that meets your needs.
Respect Mortgages works with one of the largest and most respected independent mortgage brokers. They have been in business for over 45 years and have qualified advisers all over the UK, including Dorking, Woking, Guildford and Surrey.
What types of mortgage borrowers can a broker deal with?
Most mortgage brokers will be able to deal with a wide range of borrowers, from first-time buyers to those looking to remortgage their property
But brokers excel at helping borrowers whose circumstances are more complex, such as self-employed people or those with a bad credit history. This is because they have a good understanding of the different types of mortgage available and can access deals that aren’t available on the high street.
Why should anyone use a broker?
There are a number of reasons why you might want to use a mortgage broker:
- To save time: Researching the mortgage market can be time-consuming. A good broker will be able to quickly assess your circumstances and find a deal that meets your needs.
- To get expert advice: A broker will be able to advise you on the best mortgage for your circumstances and guide you through the application process.
- To access the whole market: As mentioned above, brokers have access to deals from across the market, meaning they are more likely to find a highly competitive mortgage that meets your needs.
- To boost your chances of getting approved: A broker will have a good understanding of the different types of mortgage available and can match you with a lender that is more likely to approve your application.
- To negotiate on your behalf: A good broker will be able to negotiate with lenders on your behalf to get you a better deal.
